Jeff Cook, guitarist and vocalist for Country Music Hall of Fame group Alabama, has died at the age of 73.
Cook died at his home in Destin, Florida, with his family by his side, according to his publicity team. He had battled Parkinson’s disease for a decade, going public with the diagnosis in 2017.
A post released on the band’s Instagram page said: “Jeff Cook, founding member and legendary guitarist of the supergroup ALABAMA, has died. (He) passed away peacefully yesterday with his family and close friends by his side at his beach home in Destin, Florida. He was 73.”
The post added: “One of Cook’s lifelong dreams came true with the construction of Cook Sound Studios and his home, ‘Cook Castle’ based in Fort Payne.”
